Hi, i have ipodlinux set up and running on an ipod 5.5 ( the 80gb with the search function), and loader2 set up and running perfectly. I can launch ipodlinux, iboy, iplay, apple os, rockbox and something more.

The fact is that i just installed rockbox and it boots up perfectly but before showing the main rockbox menu a message saying "no .rockbox folder Installation incomplete". Then the main menu appears but rockbox doesn't seem to work as it should, i can't change themes, play anything etc

I don't know why it is happening. My .rockbox folder is in the fat32 partition, the one itunes uses to store everything. My partition table is like this (note that the partitions are not in the correct order, look at the cilynder start. i followed this tut http://ipodlinux.org/5.5g):

The way i installed rockbox is that:

* Downloaded current build, r14663
* Downloaded fonts, r14660
* Unzipped both in the root of my ipod, so a .rockbox folder appears and inside the rockbox firmware structure.

Then edited Loader.cfg:

Apple OS @ ramimg
iPodlInux @ (hd0,2)/kernel.bin
Rockbox @ (hd0,1)/.rockbox/rockbox.ipod
Wikipedia @ (hd0,2)/kernel.bin /mnt/Wikipodia/wikizilla

Could someone tell me what's happening? should .rockbox be .Rockbox (capital letter) ?? Is due to the partitions structure, wrong order. Please help I don't understand what's happening cause loader2 finds rockbox and boots it up, but then rockbox says some directory is missing, strange

Finally i got it solved, so thanks for nothing as far as no one was interested on help, someone just joined here my post, so obviusly no one read it. I hope next time on one moves other's post at least if he is not pretty sure about what is doing. Cause the problem had nothing to do with loader2. So as sayd, next time i hope my post can remain untocuh so i can get help...

Well why don't you A) say what it was so other people with this problem can fix it, and B) Quit complaining that rules were enforced. Seriously, the rules explicitly state if you need help, Loader2 is considered unsupported and questions go here.

If you ask for help with Loader2, and violate the rules by starting another thread, it will get merged with this one. Loader2 causes all sorts of problems, so if it's being used *at all* it belongs here, whether it obviously causes the problem or not. If you want help outside of here, UNINSTALL LOADER2 THEN ASK.

But since you're complaining about people not helping you, you should be perfectly willing to help other people, right? So post your solution.

That's my last reply, cause i don't want to start a discusion. first i don't asked for suppor about loader2, just exposed my problem and explained at the detail how i did things, just to get better help. But as people do here, when someone ask for a problem and then says loader2 is installed you say loader2 is the problem. Maybe would be better search for the problem before acuse loader2. And as you sayd people with this problem maybe shoudl go to ipodlinux to ask for help, there no one is going to say you goodbye.

And jus to remember loader2, ipodlinux etc were working right, what failed was rockbox, thats why i posted there.

Rockbox DEPENDS on the bootloader to do certain things. If you are NOT using the Rockbox bootloader, you are NOT using Rockbox how it's supposed to be used: Thus, it is unsupported.

For example, if you deleted the .codec files, and replaced them with your own, even though it's still the same rockbox.ipod, you would also be unsupported. Rockbox is NOT just one file. It is a series of files, working together. You chose to remove one, and so you became unsupported.

Yes, Rockbox may have been the problem, but it wasn't ALL of Rockbox there: You had an improper installation, and thus we do not help with it.

After choosing rockbox in the ipodloader 2.4 on my ipod it starts to load as normal(the orange loadingbar with the blue background), but when the loading bar is at 100% nothing happens. what am i supposed to do? I dont know if it actually a problem with rockbox or if it is a problem with my loader.

Loader2.4 is too old to boot Rockbox properly - you need 2.5 at least.

Is it possible to have a multiboot set up that boots rockbox by default with no delay but will boot IPL if a button is held down on start-up? i want to use rockbox 90% of the time and not slow down the boot time but also play around with the emulators and apps on ipodlinux.

is there a way to go to the iPL loader screen when i got the rockbox bootloader installed?because i still want to be able to use the Iboy without having to go to the iPL loader screen every time i start the ipod(i use rockbox 97% of the time, and then it's really annoying for having to select rockbox everytime i start my ipod in the iPL loader screen) so is there a way to go to the iPL loader screen while still having rockbox starting up when i turn on my ipod?(like if you press ''>||'' when it starts up it goes to ipodlinux and ''menu'' for apple OS, so is there also such a way to go to the iPL loader screen?)

The stock Rockbox bootloader does this.  Hold down Play at boot time.

DarthCle: No.  The Rockbox bootloader will look for the Linux kernel in the FAT32 partition and load that, but it's not set up to load other bootloaders.

Actually if you took the iPL loader, and put it where you'd normally put the linux kernel binary, it *might* work, if it's in the right format.

I tried installing loader2 into my ipod, but I keep getting this error while trying to install Loader2 onto my ipod "Couldn't input file loader.bin". This, of course is after I followed the instructions on the Ipod Linux site, and I had to rename the loader2 download to "loader.bin". The only difference is that I put Loader.bin and the ipodpatcher file into the same folder (entitled Loader2) in my main drive, so in the command prompt I changed drive to C:\loader2. Is there anything missing, or did I do somthing wrong?
