It is not possible to monitor the disk activity when in USB mode. Sorry.

Thanks for looking Linus - I tried reading the Fact Sheet for the USB bridge but couldn't make much sense of it.

And yes I meant Bootloader (or proper) USB mode - but didn't make it clear - sorry.
