H300 Bootloader idea HDD activity indicator
Multiplex:
I've seen various notes about tweaks the H300 Bootloader and I'm aware that there is a view to produce the final version. I was just wondering if there was any way to add some kind of HDD activity indicator to it - on the H120 you have the LED to tell you that there is somethig going on but on the H300 you have to hope that Windows hasn't gone away for a sulk.
Maybe there is no information that can be found out from the Bridge chip or no I/O line connected to whatever drives the LED in the H100 series.
What does the assembled multitude of H300 owners thing - worth raising an FS feature request?
nls:
I agree that this could be (moderately) useful and that it's indeed worth raising afeature request for it.
bascule:
There is a WPS tag that is activated on HDD usage. I don't know if it's configured for the H300, though...
Rincewind:
I think Multiplex is not talking about Rockbox but the few seconds before when the bootloader runs. I don't see why a hdd indicator is needed there. There are some messages that flash over the screen and if the disc doesn't come up you would hear (or not hear) it anyway and suspect something wrong when the bootloader takes too much time.
If there aren't any error messages and Rockbox loads then you can safely assume that everything is working.
When Rockbox flashing is working for the H300 this would be obsolete anyway.
It could be the that Multiplex is talking about bootloader usb-mode. In that case I can understand his feature request.

He is talking about bootloader usb mode -- it's a bit hidden in the text but it's quite clear (usual booting doesn't need windows, does it? ;-)
