Can I manipulate Line spacing?

Line Spacing, is it dependant on font?  Can you manipulate it somehow, maybe by editing something in the font?  (Not sure what, ttf file if converting or the bdf?)

I know the scroll margins patch will place a line of text exactly where you want, but I'd rather not use it if possible.

No. The wps is line based, and that only depends on the height of the font.

As far as I understood viewports will overcome this limitation.

I guess I'm just curious as to how the line spacing is calculated?  Is it some fraction of the font height?  And if so can you manipulate that calculation somewhere.

If the answer is no again, I'll meekly scurry off back to my corner.  ;D

Line spacing is equal to font height.  If your font is 8 characters high, you will have (screen height)/(8) lines.

That's it.

I'm sure you could change it in the code, but I'd suspect it'd be nontrivial.

Thanks for the info.  "Change in the code," in the font specs or Rockbox's code?  Either way, thanks.  I'll drop the topic now.

You could probably introduce a really tall character in a font to manipulate the line spacing... You couldn't make it shorter than the font's smallest character though.
