Quick question (Ipod 5g 60)
« on: March 29, 2007, 09:42:02 AM »
I'll be brief, i've had a look around the various manuals and wikis, and i think it's probably me just being oblivious, but i'll ask anyway.

When i had my iriver, it could charge from USB and still play music by holding the record button whilst plugging the cable in.

It is possible for the Ipod to do this currently, and if so, which button do i hold?

Thanks

Aha, thanks. One more thing:

It doens't appear to be playing the charging animation in the corner of the screen. Does this mean that it isn't charging? Or has no-one got around to telling it to play the animation yet?

It should be charging, but yes, the animation isn't playing yet.

Under some conditions Rockbox actually uses more power than it draws over USB (for two reasons, one Rockbox uses more power than it should and we haven't figured out where the 'leak' is so to speak, and the second being that USB has a high power mode which we can't activate yet, either one of those would solve the problem). So be aware that heavy use like that may see your power actually go down with time, though even then it would be slower than if you weren't plugged in. And whether your use causes it to drain or just charge slowly seems to be hit and miss among users.
