No "Jog/Shuttle" function on iPods?

(1/1)

nos402:
I was just reading the manual and searching the forums to see if Rockbox might interest me, and I have one question so far:

On the iPod when you are playing a track, if you press "select" then the scroll wheel now functions as a FF/RW wheel instead of volume. Is this not possible in Rockbox? The control listing in the manual seemed to indicate that pressing select while playing takes you back to the file browser.

lights0ut:
Hey nos402, don't worry , rockbox can FF and RW by holding down the next and last track buttons.

lexicon:
Rockbox: so many functions, so few buttons...

That is a neat feature, very handy for long podcasts or whatever. But Rockbox has a bookmarking functionality, and a fwd/rvs scanner that is accessed by holding  >>|   or   |

I knew about the holding down prev/next, but I just like to have both options like I do with the default firmware, but I may be able to live without it to free myself from the proprietary apple firmware (although at least I am much happier with winamp/mlIpod as opposed to iTunes) but I am still tethered to some form of proprietary interface even if it's one I'm happy with.

I agree this would be nice... but havnt worked out the best way to do it yet (pressing select opens the file browser...)
an idea I had, which may be possible is similar to what the sansa does when you change volume... a scroll bar takes up about half the screen showing the current volume, we could have this popup, then pressing select while its on the screen changes it to seek instead of volume (or vice verca if we let it remember its last use...)
