Of course, I was just saying that the CPU doesn't have any real involvement in the EQ's output.
The hardware EQ shouldn't use as much power as the software EQ though, and even if it does, it won't slow rockbox down like the software one would.
@PHK Brasil: I'm a dunce, I've used RMAA before :D i'll do that test tomorrow hopefully.
Llorean:
The hardware EQ is also broken, though. It's really only Bass and Treble.
TexasRockbox:
The Hardware EQ appears to only work with the upper and lower shelves as stated (in effect Bass and Treble with switchover points). The behavior of the menu Bass and Treble selecections is altogether different. For example, there may be a boost in the Bass when using the Bass but there seems to be a corresponding boost in volume as well. Same for Treble. Either the crossover points are very close to the middle frequencies, say 500Hz for Bass and 1000Hz for Treble or there is something else happening to cause an impression of overall volume increase. when using the controls.
Llorean:
I'm pretty sure those are considered "broken" at the current time too. If I recall, though I may have misunderstood, the plan is to use the hardware EQ as shelfing bass/treble that is adjustable (within the limited frequency options it offers) and then 5G users will essentially have the same options as other devices.
safetydan:
Heck, there's already a patch for it here http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/7440 which needs testing. Apparently the cutoff settings don't work but I can't quite figure out why. Kind of hard to debug things without the actual hardware unfortunately.
