Constant lockups on ipod Mini 2G
(1/1)
Chris The Ninja Pirate:
I tried to install rockbox on my 2nd Gen ipod mini.
I used the firmware from here
http://build.rockbox.org/...ld-ipodmini2g/rockbox.zip
I now have it working but I suffer constant crashes. The lockups occur any time on any menu. It is so unstable I have only actually managed to hear one song (.aac) for 30 seconds. It will crash on the main menu, on the submenus, pretty much everywhere. It does seem to be more stable if I just leave it sat on the side charging, although it has crashed at least once the instant I pick it up and try and scroll. Basically it is utterly unusable. I tried initialising the existing itunes database on first startup and this locked up loads of times. I then reinitialised the database, which seemed to go more smoothly (maybe only one lockup?) but it still doesn't work.
Having had a quick look about on the forums I have tried changing the CPU boost in Debug, which doesn't seem to have made any difference and I can't find out where to change tag caching (???).
Has anyone any suggestions? Should I delete all the music that is currently on here and start again?

Many, many thanks. Stops beating my head AND ipod against the wall. Moved back to firmware from 25th March and everything now seems tickety boo.
Typical of my luck - install a new firmware a day after the latest release is unstable.
