Problem with RB install on 2nd Gen ipod Mini

(1/1)

Chris The Ninja Pirate:
EDIT - NOW WORKING, IZARC ATCHIVE SOFTWARE DID NOT PUT THE '.' AT THE START OF THE FOLDER NAME

Hello chaps,

I tried to install rockbox on my 2nd Gen (disk size shown on back) ipod mini.

I used the instructions from here

http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-ipodmini2g.pdf

I used the fonts from here

http://download.rockbox.org/daily/fonts/rockbox-fonts.zip

I used the firmware from here

http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-ipodmini2g/rockbox.zip

I used the bootloader from here

http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/ipodpatcher/
win32/ipodpatcher.exe

I followed the instructions and put the mini in disk mode, extracted the fonts and firmware to f:/rockbox (not .rockbox as shown in the instructions - can't enter a '.' as folder name?) and then ran ipodpatcher which showed install succesful. On rebooting the mini it sits at the apple logo and doesn't boot rockbox. I can still put it in disk mode and if I switch hold on during boot (or press menu) then the original apple firmware will boot.

On searching the forums there was a mention that the bootloader used to be incompatible and to use the OLD installation instructions but the link given in the post now links backs to the same page I got the instructions from (http://www.rockbox.org/manual.shtml) or in another post to here

Any clues to where I am going wrong?
