The A/V sync appears to work fine but it is terribly slow with maybe 2 to 3 frames per second. Without frameskip enabled video and audio doesn't fit together anymore but the video is much smoother (arount 13 fps according to mpegplayer).

Is the A/V sync really supposed to be that slow or am I just encoding the files wrong or could the videos be too long?

I'm using an IAudio X5 with a build from yesterday.

What frame rate is the file encoded at?

I don't know, i used the VLC-tanscode.bat, i added now fps=25, encoded it and it has the same filzsize again, so i guess it it was 25 fps. I'll try it now with 12.

VLC encodes only adio at 12 fps.
I tried now WinFF with 15 and 12 fps. With 15 fps the videos is most of the time terribly slow again, b ut at 12 fps it is mostly pretty smooth and the sync is correct :).

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but on the Sansa if I play one video file and then select a video (same or different) to play after that one, the audio runs but no video (screen lit, but black).  Controls still seem to work (power to stop video), and shut down works, but it seems like the only way to get the screen back is through restarting.

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this problem on the Sansa or what might be causing it.  I built RB yesterday afternoon.

(assuming you are using constant bitrate, not constant quality.)
Changing the framerate will not change the file size.
Filesize is determined by the bitrate, which is in kilobits per second...lowering the framerate will increase the bits per frame.

Always, ALWAYS make sure you're using a Rockbox built minutes before you post, and that you can reproduce a bug on it. Development is very active.

Your Sansa problem should be gone now (though there's another problem where sometimes after you've played a video, the next one you play will cause a freeze, but that one's got a different cause.)

Apologies... and yes, development is incredible... I'm constantly watching the SVN log for what all is coming across.  I just didn't see anything that looked like it applied to the mpeg plugin at the time -- but the bug is gone now.

Rebuffering seems to be broken in the latest build.  Using r12903.

That's not even remotely the latest build. Nearly 200 builds older than "latest" (197)

That's what I downloaded just a minute ago, and it's what Rockbox version says.

"Current build".

Just redownloaded, the build number should be correct now. r13101.  Works fine.  I think it was Firefox mixing up some cached downloads.
