The problem is that Rockbox does not support Replaygain values in ape tags which is what mp3gain does.

For now use the mp3gain that changes the file or wait for either mp3gain to support writing Replaygain values to id3 tags or Rockbox to support them in ape tags. Better yet move everything Ogg Vorbis and use vorbisgain.

UPDATE: OK, it look like Foobar2000 supports writing them to id3 tags.
