I was playing jewels while listening to an Ogg Vorbis encoded audiobook (~60kbps, no idea if that matters). After a few minutes the display decided to freeze and fade through various colours. The playback wasn't influenced by that, so I kept watching the display going black. When nothing but a vertical line remained I turned it off...
When turning it on again I was taken aback by how loud it suddenly was! If I had pulled the volume all the way up my ears would've taken serious damage. Apart from the massively increased volume the bass range sounded much better (=louder). The only problem that remained was the stereo image jumping around randomly, but apart from that the sound was perfect.
Unfortunately everything went back to normal again when I connected my Sansa with my PC

And since that incident I'm unable to access the player's folder structure via MSC mode (Which sucks hard because now I'm unable to update Rockbox and add new files other than mp3, wma and bmp. I've tried on 4 different systems btw)

I'm afraid this ain't of much help for the audio DAC coders because I can't provide too much information about what happened, but I decided to share anyways.
I sincerely hope that there's someone who can help me with the MSC mode issue
