Updating database

(1/1)

WhipHubley:
Hi there.

I'm using Rockbox as I wish to play ogg vorbis file rather than mp3.

I have Rockbox running on a 1st Gen Ipod Nano, and initialised the database when it contained a number of albums in mp3 format.

I have since connected to the ipod in disk mode and removed these file from the iPod_Control/Music folders (F00, F01, F02 etc) but the Rockbox database still contains the information about these albums.

I have been to the Settings/General Settings/Database and chosen both Update now and Initialise now, but the database still contains this information.

How can I get the database to "realise" that the music has now gone? I then wish to put some ogg vorbis albums on their and for the database to pick these up.

Thanks very much for your help.

TAC109:
If your PC is running Windows you need to delete these files from the recycle bin.

Also, if you have System Restore active on your PC and it is monitoring your iPod, you need to switch this off for your iPod.

WhipHubley:
No, I'm running Linux.

In the end I had to overwrite the .rockbox folder to get rid of the database.

I've decided not to initialise it at all and just use the files menu instead.

Shame, but the database it definitely not registering any changes :-(

pondlife:
I might be wrong, but IIRC you need to have both the "database in RAM" and "directory cache" options enabled for the database update to remove deleted files automatically.

Re-initializing the database should also tidy up correctly.
