iaudio x5 upgrade hard drive

(1/1)

asoong:
Hi I was just wondering if anyone has tried to upgrade their iaudio x5 hard drive.. I'm currently running a 30GB iaudio x5 however it is running out of space.  I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade to an 80gb toshiba hard drive since zunes and ipods seem to have similar mods done to them.

I know that there is a thickness difference between the 30 (5mm) and the 80 (8mm) however.. I think zunes have spacers in them that can be adjusted to fit an 80.  Is that true with iaudio?

thanks!

The single platter X5 has a thinner case than the dual platter X5 or the single platter X5L.
X5 20/30 GB = single platter = single battery = slim case.
X5 60 G B= dual platter = single battery = thick case.
X5L 30 GB = single platter = double battery = thick case.

hmm.. thanks very much for the input.  Do you happen to know the difference in the cases is really only the back plate? or do you think it's the entire case that's different in thickness.  I'm thinking maybe I can actually somehow find the parts that are different.. or even buy a broken iaudio X5L or X5 60gb for it's case.

Thanks alot for the info

I'm running out of my X5 60GB :-)

And thinking of possible upgrade :-)

So can someone tell
1) what would be max thickness of HDD for X5 60GB (i bet i would to subtract a mm from it, since i replaced battery year ago) ?
2) what is expected max current of HDD, since i think more recent models migh be (or might not) more energy eating ?
3) can large drives be used, or is there hardware limitations ?
