Rockbox General > Rockbox General Discussion
Another Question
Llorean:
It cannot be played because it's encrypted. Either don't use Rockbox, or better yet, don't rent your music, instead opting to purchase it on CDs or other methods where you have the common rights associated with 'owning' something.
caskey_91:
Darn, it has always been easier (and cheaper) to just purchase it online I thought there would be some kind of way to get it to become uncrypted.
Yotto:
It is the policy of this board to not discuss ways to illegally bypass DRM.
The choice you need to make is do you want the convenience of online purchases, or the freedom of purchasing (and then ripping) CDs? Believe me, after the initial problem of getting the music off the CD, the "freedom" route is by far easier than constantly bumping into situations where you want to do something that is illegal because the actual owner of the files on your computer doesn't want you to do something.
bluebrother:
there is a reason why DRM is usually called "Digital Restriction Managemen" -- except by those selling music ...
caskey_91:
Sorry I had no idea that online music was like that, is it just with itunes music or is it the same within every site that sells music online? Sorry for mentioning converting it had no idea it was illegal.
For me music is not just for convience it is cheaper online because when I purchase albums most of songs I don't want as I usually onyl like a few from a certain album.
This sucks.
