text editor
« on: March 20, 2007, 08:20:37 PM »
This section of the forum is to discus plugins right?
I got a complaint on this one.
Its not user friendly, an onscreen keyboard would be uber nice
like the one at this site
http://plugbox.rockbox-lounge.com/

the thing is
those plugins dont work for me
any suggestions?

The text editor on my H120 has a virtual keyboard...

And so, it would appear, does the iPod...

You can even make the onscreen keyboard look just the way you want it. Go here for info: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/LoadableKeyboardLayouts

So what you would like is a keyboard covering half the display at all times?
The rockbox text editor is "line based" in the "viewing" mode the keyboard is not visible giving better overview of the text. When  you select a line to edit, the keyboard pops up.
The currently available keyboard works very nicely and is very flexible, supporting any characters available in UTF8 and in any layout you like, if you want it to be replaced, the new one must do all that and have something making it worth the change. And the one in the "RockWord" which I assume is the one you meant, is very limited.

How would you like the controls to work then?

I like the controls, although, i find it funny that you choose to skip lines in the menus. if you do that, i feel that you shouldskip the spaces instead of having them selectable...

what you want deceasedskin, is windows on your ipod, a happy-go-lucky GUI based OS.
