How To Use The Game Boy emulator on RockBox
« on: March 19, 2007, 09:47:09 PM »
Hello again I could not find any information on how to use the game boy emulator that you provide. If you could please tell me how to use this feature that would be great or give me a link that leads me to a page that can tell me how to run it.

It's in the manual. Try opening the PDF and searching for gameboy.

How do I convert it to a .gbc or .gb file to be able to play it on my ipod?

Also where exactly do I place the file also it says in the browser does that mean the .rockbox browser or what?

Also I cannot find the plugin anywhere in my ipod at all. I think the file that runs it may be missing, and I don't know how to fix that.

It's in the manual (but you do have to read it). Try opening the PDF and searching for gameboy.

Alright a more specific problem.

Okay my game (ROM) I have is in my notes and I changed it to a .gbc file via right clicking the file clicking on properties and changing it that way. Now when I go to play the game it starts to initialize then it says the plugin returns an error and it's aborted.

I searched through the manual and have no idea how to trouble shoot this.

"my game i have is in my notes" <- could you explain that please?
What kind (game) of rom is it?

I know; you have of course transferred it from your own original cartridge so we won't even need to talk about that. But then again, it could have been corrupted during transmission from the cartridge...

It is a home brew game I got online from a LEGAL site where the games are PUBLIC DOMAINS. Nothing Illegal here. But yea the one that wont work is an old Pokemon game I found just trying to see if this works.

IT IS IN THE PROPER BROWSER TO BE PLAYED ON THE IPOD IT IS SUPPOSED TO GO IN THE FOLDER ALLOCATED "NOTES"

Actually it doesn't matter where you put the roms as long as you can find them yourself when you go file-browsing in rockbox.

Please don't spam the forums with identical topics.

Have you got any ROMs working? If you have, then probably the one causing the error is just incompatible/broken/corrupted.
I note you changed the file extension. If it was from .gba, then it will not work, as GBA ROMs are not supported.

If nothing works, then download a fresh build - you may just have a problem with an incompatible rockboy version somehow.

First off, what's the error that you're getting and is anything displayed before the error occurs?

Second, can you provide a link to the game? If it's a public domain (homebrew) ROM it should be legal.
