I cant get the doom addons to work!

i have all of the doom files running and working properly, doom 1 and 2, and they work great. only problem is that i cant get the addons to work. every time i load one, it'll load everything, and then tell me that that file does not use the original doom graphics, then flashes momentarily a menu screen then returns to the plugin directory.

i know that this is probably some option not enabled or something like that, but i cant find it!

first make sure your addon files are in a folder called "addons", which must be located in the doom folder. also some addons dont work on rockbox. i have about 7 on mine that work well

O RLY? well, ill remember that, its in the right folder (I'm meticulous about instructions, if i do something, its usually well worth it and done right the first time).

Could anyone suggest a site that might have some .wad files suited for rockbox?

Sorry! i didn't mean to hurt your feelings there... look, i don't need a mother, I'm just asking for help on where to find these sorts of things, if rockbox had a links section to partner sites or things of the nature, i wouldn't have asked that question... If you aren't willing to help, please don't bother in replying.

By any chance would you know what causes it to care so deeply for the doom original graphics?

This doesn't mean that it cares anything about the original Doom graphics.

This means that the new WAD has graphics that don't fit within the standard Doom engine. Basically, the WAD is technically incompatible with Doom. There are some modified versions of Doom that it will work with, depending on what aspect of the WAD is incompatible, but since our Doom is mostly just compatible with things that are compatible with the original Doom, the limitations are there.

Nimrod.wad file is also one i get the message on, but i dont get that message until i die. is there something odd about that to you?

(by the way, im no dummy, i know computers dont care for the standard doom graphics, i just like to phrase things like that sometimes, please forgive me if it gets confusing)

Well, I meant 'care' the same way you did. It's not the original Doom graphics that matter. It's how Doom organizes its memory to store the graphics. The patch wads have to follow certain restrictions.

It's possible that your wad has an oversized Game Over screen or some such then. Seriously, it's just a case of the authors choosing to make wads for the GP32 version of Doom in most cases, they'll be incompatible with many other versions of Doom, and in cases where they run, will often cause crashes.

That's what happened previously (random crashes in Doom at some point after the bad image was displayed) until the check was put in to prevent Doom from continuing to execute if an image didn't meet the requirements, if I recall.

Ah, I guess I'm just lucky i got one working then! Equinox works fine, a little lag, but i understand that it has a lot to keep up with in there.well, how is this possible then, i tried this wad file, it gave me that error!

the addons i have that work are
1. 007itsd.wad
2. doomres.wad
3. helpself.wad
4. ruma.wad
5. TVR!.wad

those ones work fine for me, i apoligize but i do not know the full names of those addons
