HELP w/ DOOM
« on: March 18, 2007, 04:13:19 PM »
Yes I need help downloading DOOM to my ipod. I don't understand what to do with the .WAD files and all of that and the directions didn't help at all as I can't figure out how to create the needed directory and such. Please help.

And what is the exact problem?

in the .rockboxs directory create a new folder called doom and then move all files to the new folder.

errr ... use the basic file management tools your OS has. Doesn't matter if you CnP, DnD, etc.

I run windows not OS.

Sorry this is my first adventure into this type of stuff.

"OS" is a common shortcut for "Operating System". Windows is some OS, Linux is another.

Windows has a thing called "Explorer" which is perfectly suited for accessing, managing, moving and copying files. If you don't know how to operate such a basic tool of your OS I really can't help you -- read the help of windows' explorer.

okay sorry a bit of confusion there whenever i see OS I think of Apple due to them always calling their programs OS.

I know how to transfer files and everything. My problem is I have no idea WHERE to place the WAD Files that allow me to play doom. I keep losing myself when I read the directions that you have provided.

Sorry if I am being a pain in any kind of way.

Apple calls their OS "OS X", not OS. For your question (now that you told what _exactly_ is the problem) the manual is quite clear:
you need .wad game files located in /.rockbox/doom/ on your player.

which is the folder ".rockbox" in the root folder of your player and a subfolder "doom" inside of that folder. Where's the problem?

thank you for your help I have figured it out and now have it fully running on my ipod. I somehow figured it out myself. I will remember to be more specific in the future.
