I initialized the database (as rockbox instructed me to do), rebooted (also as instructed) then when I pick any song, it loads the information (the ID3 info) but never plays, then gives me the 'Data abort'.

When was the last time you updated your bootloader ?

Raniken:
I've always downloaded from the 'current build' page and put the .rockbox folder on my ipod. Not sure if that has the bootloader or not.

Llorean:
The bootloader is the part in the manual described as installing the bootloader.

If you haven't redone that procedure recently, you might want to (installing and updating are the same process).

Raniken:
sweet. That fixed it.

I never knew you were supposed to update the bootloader. How often do you recommend I do it?

Llorean:
It's rare that you ever need to, and in fact you weren't supposed to need to this time (though the newer bootloader would've improved performance for those who had it.)

Hopefully you won't need to again. If you feel like checking, maybe look in on the file once a month or so and see if the date on it has changed.
