Turn Table like scratching on iPods

(1/2) > >>

AceNik:
Hey guys i have a H10 [20GB] with rockbox on it , but i thought of a new feature for the rockbox on the iPod's , wouldn't it be cool if someone could develop a plugin that allowed you to use the scroll wheel as a turn table for scratching music .

well i thought about how it could work :
1. first the plugin would be initialized & made to function in background, ( i know this is not possible now ).
2. then music track can be selected & the scroll wheel is ready to be scratched .

well i am sorry if i am just shooting in the air , but i seriously have no clue of the coding & hardware , just thought of a idea

there is also a thread on misticriver incase some of you would like to see a few poll results or comment on this

I have also made a " Feature Request " in the tracker view it here

could you please stop writing all bold? It is horrible to read, and there is a reason why not all fonts are bold.

Btw, what is a H20? I don't know of such a device, at least not a H20 that is supported by Rockbox.

Interesting concept. Could be quite a nice toy plugin, and maybe even useful for DJs. Could be tied-in with pitch-adjustment. Slow scroll = nudge pitch up & down. Fast scroll in alternate directions = scratch. The plugin would need to alter normal playback features though (ie. over-riding volume control... obviously).

Also... plugins should work happily in the background.

However, I would rather see someone with this kind of expertise working on basic scrollwheel acceleration for browsing.  ::)

can anyone explain as to why is this feature not that possible ?

Errr ... has anyone said this is not possible? At least I don't see anything in this thread here. I don't see a reason why this shouldn't be possible, but it would be quite some work -- and there are tons of other features that could get implemented first :o
