Ipod Video 30Gb, wont boot
Llorean:
No, I like to criticize people who jump to conclusions. "Rockbox broke my iPod" is not very popular around here when you state "it is clearly a problem were the clock is locked in a endless loop" as if there is NO other possible solution.
When you say "it is clearly a problem" this means that there can be little or no doubt that is a problem. It doesn't mean "This is a hypothesis." As you said, any intelligent person can see you had little or no prooft. But your very own words state that you felt you had enough proof to say what you thought the problem 'clearly' was, and that is very offensive.
Especially since you've yet to tell me the exact steps you took to try to reset your iPod, only stating that you've done it before, so you must've done it right. Tell me exactly what you did to attempt to reset it, including durations and repetitions, as I'd be quite interested.
As well: Does Rockbox shut down properly now? There's not a lot of variation in the sequence, so it'd be interesting to see if it does it again. Do it while your battery's low.
Have no doubt, if it IS a Rockbox problem, I'd like to know, and receive more information so it can be looked into. But it's in no way "clearly" a Rockbox problem, as you've suggested, and I was offended when you said it "clearly" was what you thought it was. You in no way stated it as a hypothesis, despite what you say now.
This is a technical forum, and we expect that you say what you mean. When you say "Clearly X is the case" this means, if you assume dictionary definitions of the words, that you have little or no doubt that X is the case. Please, don't make this word choice if you would like to leave the idea that you feel there is sufficient room for doubt. I know it sounds pedantic, but all we have is the text you put on screen, and all we can do is assume you actually mean what you said, rather than trying to guess when you do and when you don't, so please, say exactly what you mean.
