Ipod Video 30Gb, wont boot

Deth20:
Nope, I haven't called them yet.

The only sad face i see is when i look in the mirror :]
I've never ever left my ipod in excessive cold/heat, it has barely any fingerprints/scratches on the display. When it comes to mp3-players, mobiles and so on, i treat them like they were my first born sons.

Right now i starting to think that RB did not shutdown correctly and is stuck in a loop, that would maybe explain the ticking sound.

Llorean:
If your iPod were still running, turning hold On and Off, then holding Menu+Select for 30 seconds would reboot it. This is a hardware feature. That means no matter what software is running, if your iPod will do it. If you do it, see the Apple screen, then the ticking starts, that means that your iPod has rebooted. If you don't see the Apple screen, either you haven't done it properly or your iPod is physically damaged in some way or another. Nothing you've said here in any way suggests "Rockbox hasn't shut down correctly" as if that were the case you'd still be able to reboot it with Menu+Select.

Deth20:
We'll i agree on the part that menu+select is a hardware feature but only if the processor counter is running. But in this case it is clearly a problem were the clock is locked in a endless loop, and is apparently waiting for a answer.

You say there is no kind of proof it's the shutdown that is the problem. Well hmmm lets see, last thing i did was turn of rockbox. It is not likely that this is a problem of "physical-damage" or me "reseting properly".
Because:
A: I have reset ipods before, and run apples diagnostic-tool (right+select)
B: I treat my mp3player like my children, no scratches or physical-damage.
C: I always carry the ipod in the inner pocket of my jacket. And always have the cover on.

Llorean:
And you're assuming that "I treat my iPod well" means "A component can't fail"?

How is it "clearly" a problem where the clock is locked in an endless loop? Do you have access to the memory state of your iPod? Have you looked at the Rockbox shutdown code and identified any code there that could even, possibly, cause the problem you're describing?

I'm being very critical here, but you're jumping to a conclusion without developing how you've come to it other than "I hear this noise". You're blaming Rockbox on the assumption that hardware can't be faulty. Please, investigate further before blaming software that does the same thing every shutdown, and hasn't caused this problem in over a year of shutting down iPods for anyone else.

And as a note: Please detail to me the exact, WHOLE process you used to try to reset the iPod. It's possible to reset the iPod without performing the proper process, but there are additional steps that help in situations where the simple "Menu+Select" on their own do not work.

Deth20:
I feel that you only like to criticize my hypothesis, I maybe haven't look into the code as you have. But know some assembler/PIC programming. I base my knowledge from that.

My hypothesis have only been based on observation of what i see and hear. I have never had any proof of what i have said, and obviously a intelligent person can see it without point that out.

My ipod works now, after 5long days. There is nothing wrong with it. Ran diagnostic check, everything is fine.
