codec failure - gigabeat

(1/1)

irocarol:
First off, I want to say thanks because I LOVE rockbox! I hadn't updated it in a couple of weeks, and lately I added a ton more music to it. When I did that I noticed that I could get one album playing but when I'd try to pick another everything would disappear so I'd basically have to listen to that album until I restarted it.

Tonight I tried updating it to the latest version and now (after I updated the database to separate into album/artist/genre...etc) it won't play anything. I can navigate around but everytime I have something highlighted it says "codec failure". I can change settings and themes just fine..but it just won't play any music!

What should i do? I tried going back to an older version just to see if I can get anything to play but that didn't work either. I'm kind of stuck and new at all of this.

Thanks in advance for the help!

GodEater:
Could you describe how you've done your update? You have unzipped the rockbox.zip file onto your gigabeat again haven't you? Not just copied over the new rockbox.gigabeat ?

Nate!:
There's also an updated bootloader.  I'm not sure this is related to your specific problem.  Since you've loaded a newer build, hopefully you've updated the bootloader as well.

gnu:
Sounds as if you use a new rockbox.gigabeat but an old .rockbox folder...

irocarol:
You guys were right on the money...didn't get the current bootloader.  oops! It's always the most simple thing isn't it...

thanks so much for the help!
