gigabeat and playlist issues

(1/1)

sakichirocks:
I'm trying to create a playlist.  And I can't do it!  It's so frustrating!  In the manual, it says there should be playlist sub-menus and they just don't exist!  They are blank screens.  And it's just not working!  This is incredibly frustrating because I have so much music and sometimes I just want to listen to classical and not hard metal.  Please, help before I get a migraine.

Can someone please help me.  I need a walk-through or more detailed instructions on how to create a playlist on the gigabeat f40.

*Is there a way to create lists using the computer and not the player?

*The only way I've been able to fix this problem is to create folders of my music but then if I want to listen to all of it on shuffle, then I can only listen to that one folder.

Thank you for reading this long note and please, please! if anyone has help, tell me.

Yes, use any program that can create a m3u playlist.

To add music to a playlist in rockbox navigate to the file/folder you want to add and make a long press on the select button on it, a menu called the file menu should show up in it select playlist and then one of the various insert or queue options.

I do not understand  what you mean by "They are blank screens." so if the above doesn't work for you please describe what you are doing with more detail

It's not difficult to make a playlist on the player, at least I never had any trouble with going it. I suggest you refer to the manual for exact instructions. On my iPod it is a case of holding Select for a few seconds on a file in the file browser (of course, this is the same for the database too) and pressing Playlist and getting a set of various options. The ones you will need are Insert/Insert Next/Insert Last I would imagine.

Reading the manual would have told you this (I don't think I can express this well enough). ;)

As for making an external playlist, I use Foobar2000 and drag and drop music from my players hard drive. Once done, I save as an .m3u8 to the ROOT of the drive and it will correctly save the paths. Once saved, you can move it to another folder as necessary.
