delete track from playlist not working

(1/1)

KW:
Hello rockboxers,

probably this board is not the right one for my question, but since theres no board like "file browser / file mgmt" I thought it is the best suitable...

After having successfully installed rockbox (Version r12739-070312) without any problems on a ipod Video 60GB 5th gen, I noticed that the removal of a track from a playlist is not working. When I try to remove a track via

Files -> Playlists -> long "Select" on a certain playlist -> submenu -> playlist -> view -> mark track -> long "Select" -> Remove

the track is still in the playlist when I access the playlist a second time.

Is this behaviour a specifc. problem with my installation or is it a bug or a missing feature (although documentation states it is possible)?

Do I have to finally abandon the hope to be able to manage my music library completly on the HD player without any pc support (besides file upload and backup) or is there still a chance that rockbox will fulfill my dreams concerning mp3 library management?

Regards & Thanks for your OS-work
KW

LinusN:
The Remove option in the playlist viewer only removes it from the playlist in memory. You must save the playlist to disk to make the change permanent.

The playlist viewer has a menu option, Save current playlist, that is supposed to work, but it looks like it can't save it with the same name...

Please file a bug report.

So after

Files -> Playlists -> long "Select" on a certain playlist -> submenu -> playlist -> view -> mark track -> long "Select" -> Remove

one has to

"|

LinusN:
No, after selecting "Remove", you are back in the playlist viewer. There you push the Menu button and select "Save Current Playlist".

However, that option can't save the playlist with the same name, which is why I want you to file a bug report.

Ah, that makes it much more user-friendly and usable.

I found a patch a patch from July 2006 in the bug tracke which addresses axactly this problem: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5677. Since it doesn't seem to make it in the normal builds, is there any doco that coud guide me to implement that patch by my self?

Thx
KW
