The standard bootloader isn't going to get changed.

You can either see if someone in the unsupported builds forum has a modified one, or you can try out Loader 2 (unsupported here though too).
May I ask why it can't be changed? As I've said I'm not a coder but from what I've read in this thread (and what other info I've been able to find) it seems it's a fairly simple to do a recompile with the boot order switched so would it not be fairly easy to do it as an option?

He said it won't. Which makes sense. You can easily change it, I modified the gigabeat bootloader and I have pretty much no coding experience.

Because then it becomes a support nightmare for us. People with problems booting into the OF would then need to be able to tell us which version of the bootloader they had installed, and we'd have to supply yet more versions of it for people to install in the first place. It's just not going to happen.

People who use Rockbox like using it for the most part, and don't use the OF at all - I know I don't.

I guess that makes sense. Sorry, not being a coder I don't see where the limitations are and the logistics problems of implementing features. I just figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal to implement it as option on install. Wouldn't that still be a single version? But I do see what you mean about then having to support people with problems booting into the OF.

I'd just like to add that just because I'd prefer to have the OF boot first does not mean I don't like Rockbox. For some reason, from what I've seen that seems to be the prevailing train of thought whenever the subject comes up. It's not a slight on Rockbox but everybody has different uses and priorities, my desire for the OF to boot first stems from how I use it with my dock and how it interfaces with the dock not from any problem with Rockbox itself.

Well, sorry - it's just not going to happen I'm afraid.

If you want a custom bootloader, you'll either have to find one (as I said) in the unsupported builds area, or learn how to do it yourself.

Thanks for the info.

Is it ok to start a thread in the unsupported builds forum asking for someone to build one?

I'd first ask *in* some of the existing threads for builds for your ipod.

I'm guessing Febs would like you to stick to just posting where you did, in a thread which already is about such an unsupported feature.

He means there will be no official version of it with an option.

Correct.  The requirements for the "unsupported builds" forum are fairly strict and this type of thread does not fall within those requirements.
