Sansa E200 weird line on top of screen.

The rockbox firmware doesn't seem to be initializing the display properly. I'm getting a line on top of the screen that seems to be 1 or 2 pixels high, and the entire width of the screen. It even will leave the line there when rockbox boots the OF.bin

Ive had about the same problem once:

when loading the orginal firmware, vertical lines appeared from the top started to go down untill the bottom of the screen. The firmware never booted. Restarted the device by removing the battery (i didn't know then that it had a hardware shutdown fonction) and all was fine.

However I still see those lines on the top of the screen when i am booting the OF.

Yeah, I reported this on IRC when they first got the BL working but I was the only one. Now that it's supported it seems I'm not the only one. It's definitely part of the BL since it stays when you're in OF

That's odd: I have never had that problem.

We need to work out what is different between the working machines and the ones that have this problem.

First of all, could someone who is seeing this post up a photograph of the screen so I can see what we are talking about?

I'll raise a proper bug report for this tonight and post the link in this thread.

This is very odd... i took a screendump, and it took the dump without those 2 lines... however, it seems there are about 2 pixels cut off of the screen height at the top (look at the clock to tell).

The height of the screendump is fine, however.

Nevermind, the screendump looks perfectly fine. It's just not outputting to the device properly... I'll take a shot with a camera when i get a chance.

Basically, there's like yellow or red dots (normally somewhere around the top-left). I notice that when holding down the power button to turn off, the dots add up one by one (about 10 of them) like a timer before it turns off.

Okay, so I took some screenies. It seems that the jumble on the first line changes as the Sansa boots up and does other tasks. It's a bunch of moving garble once you first get to the main Rockbox menu.

Yup, that's exactly what I'm getting.

Do the dots change while Rockbox or the original firmware is running?  Or do they stay exactly where they are all the time?

The dots are there but don't change when running the OF.bin... however, when running rockbox, it changes often. Also, when shutting down rockbox, the dots seem to add up one by one across the screen from left to right

Hey just to let you know that I got the same problem with my cousin's unit. Unfortunately that's all I can say or help because I don't know how to code

I will check the unit's serial number to post it.

Latest Rockbox has different stuff at the top of the screen. Possibly due to the double buffering?

Let me know if pics would be helpful again. I don't have my camera on me at the moment.
