1st Gen Mini hangs at apple splash, bad checksum

(1/1)

justsomeguy:
Hello.  I browsed the forums for a while, but couldn't find a similar case.

After I installed the files and bootloader, then rebooted, the ipod hangs at the splashscreen with the apple logo backlit.

If i move the hold button over the screen changes to:
--- Quote ---Bad checksum
Press . . . (abreviated) for disk mode

Loading Rockbox...
Length:  5FE90
Checksum: 268411B
Model Name: mini
loading rockbox.ipod
Sum: 268411D
Error!
Can't load rockbox.ipod
--- End quote ---

I've tried reinstalling all the rockbox files as well as the bootloader, but it's still a no go.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Any

GodEater:
When you say you tried re-installing, do you mean you just tried unzipping the same files again? Or did you download them again?

I'd personally try downloading the current build again and trying that - it sounds like you got a corrupt version.

Don't bother with the ipodpatcher bit again - you've done that successfully already :)

linuxstb:
Are you sure you have a 1st Gen mini?   If you run ipodpatcher again, it will tell you which ipod you have.

justsomeguy:
Thankyou both for you ultra quick responces.

linuxstb: I could have sworn it was a first gen (wikipedia said the second gen's clickwheels were colored)...but when i start the bootloader, lo and behold, it says 2nd gen.

So I installed that firmware and now it works fine! Thanks a bunch!
