Welcome to the Rockbox Technical Forums!
I had the same issue when I first installed Rockbox on my Gigabeat. If you followed the instructions, you should have FWIMG01.DAT.ORIG. Hold Vol+ when you turn on your Gigabeat and it should restore the original firmware. Now turn if off and power it back on again; you should be in the original firmware. Now go to settings and change the computer connection to "Gigabeat Room" instead of Windows Media Player. Now connect your Gigabeat to your computer and it should be recognized. The issue is that you are using an old bootloader that doesn't recognize rockbox.gigabeat when it is in the .rockbox folder. I'll attach an updated bootloader to GigabeatFXPort page on the wiki that doesn't have this issue. Follow the instructions on the page to reinstall the bootloader and make sure you have a backup.
