Songs are gone!

(1/1)

lmatt4:
I installed Rockbox onto my iPod Nano 1st generation, and couldn't find my songs.  So I manually went into my iPod file in My Computer and deleted the files.  Now, when I go to turn on my iPod, it says:

Rockbox bootlader
Version:  20r12194-070204
IPOD version:  0x000C0006
SST55LD019K-45-C-MWE
Partion 1:  0x0B 1866MB
Loading Rockbox...
Error!
Can't load rockbox.ipod:
File not found

I've tried everything, now I just want to know how to get my iPod back to it's original software!  I've searched through the manual and can't find anything! Help!

linuxstb:
It's not clear from your message if it was intentional, but you deleted Rockbox - which is why the bootloader is telling you it can't be found.

Press and hold both the MENU and SELECT buttons together for about 5 seconds, and then as you see your ipod reset, immediately press and hold SELECT and PLAY.  That will put your ipod into disk mode, where you can then access it again from your computer.

If you want to use Rockbox, extract the rockbox.zip file to your ipod again, and just follow the instructions in the Database section to access your music.

Otherwise, either restore it using itunes, or run ipodpatcher again (in the same was as you did during the installation) and select the "u" option to uninstall the bootloader.

Febs:
And if you do reinstall Rockbox, read Chapter 4 of the Rockbox Manual and particularly the part about initializing the database.
