You know, it's generally not a good idea to suggest something might be shit in the very forum for that piece of software you're asking for help with.

Some questions:
1) Which iRiver player do you have, iRiver is a brand and we support a few of their players.
2) What format is the song you're trying to play?
3) Are you trying to access it via database or filetree?
4) What exactly (word for word) is the error message you get?
5) Do plugins work for you?

Seriously though, have you tried reading the manual?

3) filetree - I have tired to load up the database but some files aren't showing in the database( another matter)
4) It says exactly what I listed "no file" where it should show the track name and I should ve happily listening to my music.
5) I don;t know i have never plugged one in.

Just go to "Browse Plugins" and run one of them and see what it says. It's an option in the main menu.

It suggests that your Rockbox is properly installed (though doesn't guarantee it).

Okay, what types of tags do the files you're trying to play have?

Wait, earlier I asked what format the files you were trying to play were and you said they were MP3. Are you saying you're playing MP3 files with WMA tags?

That's your problem then. Rockbox expects files to be tagged with the tagging format considered part of their standard. In the case of MP3 this is either ID3v1 or ID3v2. Your extremely non-standard tagging format is likely the reason Rockbox is unable to read your files properly for playback.

Non-standard, I have just ripped the cds using windows media player. So what should the tags be then?

ID3v1 or ID3v2 as I said. Frankly I'm astonished if Windows Media Player allows you to put WMA tags on MP3 files.

Are you sure the files are actually MP3s? Not just WMA files with an MP3 extension?
