1st gen Ipod Nano - freezes on splash screen

(1/3) > >>

gh0st:
hi all. thanks in advance for taking your time to read this and possibly help me out.

i ran the bootloader and extracted the current build to my root ipod folder (k:). it ran fine the first time but is now unable to go past the splash screen, and the device loses its recognition by Windows when it loads the splash screen.

any advice? thanks again.

Llorean:
Which splash screen are you referring to? What exactly happens, and what did you do immediately before the freeze started happening?

gh0st:
1. ran bootloader
2. extracted files into k:
3. turned on ipod

at this point the splash screen displayed and then loaded the OS. i adjusted the crossfade and the display colors. nothing more.

i also added a few more songs to a pre-made playlist in itunes (running windows xp).

on the next bootup the splash screen froze and even a hard reset and reboot will not work.

Llorean:
Which splash screen are you talking about though? The Apple Logo splash screen, the Rockbox logo Splash Screen?

Also, did you properly "Eject" the iPod when disconnecting, or did you just unplug it when the transfer was done?

gh0st:
apologies.

it freezes at the rockbox logo. and no i did not properly eject it. what is the remedy?
