iTunes alternatives
« on: March 09, 2007, 06:00:23 AM »
Hello people, I am on a mission to move away from all all Apple software. I still run OSX on my mac, but I'm slowly moving to linux I have a iPod 5G but i am now pleased to be running Rockbox, I was wondering what software people use to manage there songs. I am really interested in using Songbird to get MP3 blogs, and I have just started using Yamipod, as i can carry that around and use it on any OSX computer but I am tempted to try floola. Just thought I'd ask if anyone uses anything else, obviously open source is better.

What apps did you end up with?

I just installed Rockbox. I've been using iTunes up until now for organizing and syncing, so when I started using Rockbox all my playlists would just show these useless four-letter sequences (of course, the "database" and wps shows full info). But I'm considering removing all the iTunes-music and just copying my whole ~/Music-folder; the question is just: what app should I use to keep it up to sync? I liked having all my music organized in iTunes, and being able to untick files that I didn't feel like having on the iPod.

I don't want to have to learn how to use rsync or whatever it is the hardcore geeks use... it feels like Songbird ought to be up to the task with some extension, but I haven't found anything yet...
