The japanese version comes with a wireless usb-stick that plugs into this connector. I am not aware of any other use with the original firmware.

Yes

The US users manual shows how to connect a digital camera to the other usb port to download pictures from the camera for viewing on the gigabeat player. It may only work with certain brands of digital cameras.

My Question is: Is there a way for that usb connection only to work as a supplementary connection? i.e. i have my f40 plugged into the cradle, it is recognized by my pc i can access it and now i want to plugin my second device, say an external harddrive, and have that recognized, too. I am not looking for any OTG capabilities, I don't want the f40 to interact with any other device, just that this usb jack acts as connector... Is that Possible?
Chronon:
You'd have to re-wire your dock. Currently that port connects to the Gigabeat's USB port (i.e. the Gigabeat is host). But it seems that if the jack was wired up appropriately that you could have access to one of the unused ports in the 4-port USB hub that markun mentioned.

Is there a possibilty for someone to create something like a manual to do this, or shall i start a new thread to gather some information on this? Because with my technical understanding (very low), i'm not able to extract the appropriate info on how to rewire the dock from the post that markun made...
