Sometimes iPod freezes when activating menus through hold

Kind of a confusing topic to explain but here goes.  Sometimes when I want to save a game in rockboy (happens in doom sometimes too), I switch the hold button and and wait for the menu.  I then put the hold button back to normal.  Sometimes the player will remain locked and I will have to force a shutdown or  wait a few minutes for it to unlock.  Any one else experience this behavior?

If that happens, just press a button (like play) and then try scrolling.  I've had that happen and it works fine after that

I've noticed that Rockbox likes to eat the next button event that happens after hold is released.  Generally, this can be fixed by scrolling back and forth until you see/hear something happen.
