Ipod Nano won't play Mp3
john112020:
I have been a rockbox user since the Archos player days. I have been using rockbox on my Ipod Nano for the last six-eight months. For the last couple of months. I had been using a daily CVS build from late September and everything was fine. Yesterday, I updated by build to the latest daily build and I started having problems playing any mp3. I get a data abort at 0002FA68 error everytime I play any mp3. I deleted my .rockbox folder - reinstalled today's daily build and reset my settings to default. I am on build 070306 now. I still get exactly the same error. If I go to the debug menu and press "View audio thread" - I get another data abort error - this time it's "Data abort at 0002ECD8". The same mp3's were working in the prior build (Sep 30 daily build), so it's likely not a problem with the file. I have no desire to go back to the Apple firmware, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

You simply need to update your bootloader - do what this page tells you:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/IpodInstallationBeta
(it's now just a double-click operation, nothing like it was when you first installed Rockbox).

That did the trick - kudos to the developers for making the bootloader installation so much easier. Thanks for your help.

Hello, I am also having this issue, I realize that the dual core support caused this issue however I tried to use the ipodpatcher and it said that no ipod was connected... (the link you gave told me to look at the manual, the manual said to download the ipodpatcher...) do I have to uninstall the bootloader before installing it again? Also, do I need to recopy my music after doing this?

The instructions were moved from that wiki page into the manual between the time I posted the link and the time you visited it...
If ipodpatcher is telling you that there is no ipod connected, then there are various possibilities, which depend on your operating system (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux...).
But the most important thing is to ensure your ipod is in disk mode - i.e. that it's displaying the "do not disconnect" screen. If not, then there is no way your computer can talk to it.
If you're still having problems, start a new thread in the Apple Installation forum, giving as much detail as you can about what you've done.
To answer your other questions - no, you don't need to uninstall the bootloader, ipodpatcher will just replace any existing bootloader, and no, ipodpatcher doesn't touch the part of the disk that your music is stored on, so it should be safe.
