Where to get new bootloaders for Dual core support?
« on: March 05, 2007, 02:49:39 PM »
Kinda dumb question, I know; but i can't find the updated bootloaders for dual core support (for my Mini2G). The file linked in the instructions (http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/ipod/bootloader-mini2g.bin) is identical to the one i already have and the new Rockbox SVN doesn't boot with that one (hangs with the RockBox Logo).
Downloading the 'other' bootloader (the one, that cannot run Apple's OS) doesn't help either, since it also is identical to my old version.
I cannot find instructions on how to compile the bootloader myself, else I would have tried that..

Thanks for any help!

How do you know the one that doesn't work with Apple_OS is identical to your current version? It's embedded in the ipodpatcher program, and shouldn't be available as a standalone file now.

@cynric,

Please be patient - we're working to try and release new COP-enabled bootloaders for the minis and 4g greyscale as soon as we can.  For now, you'll need to stick with the last daily buiild before COP support was added.

@Llorean,

The bootloaders embedded in ipodpatcher are also available as standalone downloads - they're needed by people who either want to or have to compile ipodpatcher themselves, and they're also downloaded by rbutil (they're not embedded in rbutil).

thank you guys, i will stay with my last build then. :)

@llorean: the current .ipod file to use with the ipodpatcher was identical, i thought this contained the bootloader.

No, the bootloader is the thing that you used to INSTALL rockbox, using command prompt, or whatever program for whatever OS you run.

No, the bootloader is the thing which loads rockbox.

Installing rockbox to anything just means unzipping the rockbox.zip, it's nothing to do with installing the bootloader.
