Dual processor usage.
« on: March 05, 2007, 07:08:42 AM »
In the recent SVN builds, there is this feature that greatly improves the video playback.
Shouldn't it also improve the overall performance? I mean, for example, using the "Plasma" plugin while playing music? It should run smoothly, but it doesn't.

By the way, I'm using a Nano.

It should improve things while playing music, unfortunately it doesn't and I haven't figured out why yet.  When I do (or when someone else does) then there will be a sudden performance increase.

It only increases performance if the second thread (e.g. plasma) runs on the second core. I could imagine that both threads (music and plasma) still run on the same core. But I don't really know.

The codec thread is always running on the second core. Other threads, all of them, should still be started on the main core.
