You can't because it's SO major that MS decided anyone in Europe will not want one this year ;)

Most of the stuff in the open source community came about because someone either requested it, or got bored one day and made it themselves.

Well, you are in luck, this guy is now porting Linux to your beloved player! (and it's almost finished!!)

And look, not all open source devs are evil (like us)
"Zune-Linux is not about money or fame, we're in this to better the Linux community and to better the capabilities of our Zunes."
Arioch:
"There are holes in the current firmware that allow the processor to boot another operating system in much the same way as a PC can use a ram disc / live distribution. "
So when anyone asks about RockBox for Zune You can tell that Microsoft intentionally took measures to blocks you from doing this. And even doing so would rely either on certain firmware cracks, that will became unfunctional with new firmware versions, or on modding the hardware. Like that cracked games for Playstation/XBox.
So, anyone wanting to make and keep maintained Rockbox/Zune port would be glad to either continously look for one then another firmware security holes (is he so competent in crypto?) to find way to load rockbox after each new firmware released, or to help distribute cracked firmware and mod chips for Zune.
2nd thing would immediately used by RIAA monkeys to twist things and make RockBox into illegal pireate software, like they did with DVD copy programs.
1st things neads a very strong knowledge and continuous mind effort, much more than just developing new software for Zune.
I guess no one want Rockbox that would be launched once and will fade into non-existence after MS will update the firmware.
And i wonder why Linux/Zune is separate beast. Did you talked with its devels ?
Are they separate because of not knowing about Rockbox ?
Because Rockbox is so music-centered that is no way to be useful for video ?
Some other shortages in Rockbox ?
At least if Linux/Zune will develop good file manager with ability to copy/share music between players, that would be good thing for Rockbox to get it from that project :-0

Zune Linux is nothing but a hoax with a fancy web site.
They have not published anything and yes we have asked them for details so that we can join in and participate in the fun.

How ironic. You criticize someone else's spelling, and then misspell "hypocrite." Ha ha ha!
