It's really quite complicated... I bet the procedure, when you get hold of a machine, to extract the rom from an actual pacman-machine is explained somewhere on the internet - google it?

Explanation; A viewer is nothing you open. A viewer has a/several filetype/s assigned to it so when you "play" a certain file the viewer is started. Like the mpegplayer - you just go to a .mpeg and press play with it selected.
With rockboy you'd go to a .gbc-file (or what ever) and press "play" which would result in rockboy starting executing that .gbc.

ok thank you. It would be realy nice if you could tell me where I can buy the pacman machine and other gameboy roms such as pokemon, and many others. Also is there another way of getting the pacman roms legally. For example can I buy it and download it legally.

Llorean:
There is no way to legally download them.

You have to own the physical games, the actual gameboy games for an actual gameboy, or an actual pacman arcade cabinet, and come up with a method for copying them off of it. That is the only legal solution.

Avid:
So if you own the game, and you still download the file from the Internet, it is still Illegal? Because I bought pokemon games in the past, and I still have the cartridges.

Llorean:
According to US Copyright law, yes. I cannot speak for other countries. But we do not discuss where copyright materal can be downloaded from, period, here, unless that copyright material is specifically licensed by the creator for redistribution.

Mad Cow:
What I don't understand about that is: there are a ton of sites that distribute GBC ROMs, how come they aren't shut down?
