Can't install Rockbox on an H340

Ta. I've been using Linux for years, so I know about terms such as root, but when there's a folder in the player labelled 'root', then I just follow the instructions!

At least this misunderstanding was just that, and not a problem with your dap.  I see that nls has now amended the manual to make this clearer - it is sometimes a hard thing to do as rockbox is written by people who know computer terminology inside out, and don't realise that sometimes what seems an obvious term might not be.

It's not that.  The term "root" is reasonably clear, and even if it's not, we've striven to make it clear in the documentation what we mean.  However, in this case, the problem was that iriver made the idiotic decision to name a directory "root."

Alright, I didn't know iriver had a folder named root, I don't have a H3x0.  I was just trying to help.

There's nothing to apologize for.  the advice you gave in this thread was good advice.  I wasn't being critical of your post, but of iriver's decision to use the name "root" for a folder.

I guess one major problem with message boards and written comunication in general is that nuances of spoken language don't come across that well!
