Rough start; not sure my install is "right"
(1/1)

This is arguably not solely an installation issue, but since I'm not ready to proclaim victory on the install yet, I'll start here.
I have a 20 Gig 4G that was exhibiting signs that perhaps its hard disk wasn't the happiest before I even started mucking with Rockbox. I was hoping that a nice clean reformat might help the situation, and I didn't want to stick with iTunes.
I had some issues getting Rockbox going initially, and figuring out the ID3 databasing was a challenge. But at the moment, the iPod locks-up somewhere between 1/2 and 1-1/2 songs played, and has to be rebooted.
Does anyone have any advice for how to determine whether this might, in fact, be a hard disk issue, or if my installation is hosed, or finally, if it's just life on the Rockbox bleeding edge and a new build might help?

The iPod 4G is known to have freezing issues. See Mikeage's no scaling build in the unsupported builds forum as that should work as a temporary resolution for your problem.
And just as a note, we do have a note in the forum describing some easy to understand guidelines for when Rockbox is considered 'installed' for future reference. ;)

Thanks for the response.
As it turns out, the unhappy hard disk in my 4G was more than unhappy; it rolled over and died yesterday. So at least some of the myriad issues that remained are clearly sourced at this point.
I'm planning to take it apart and replace the hard drive in it, and when that's done, I'll try that unsupported build. And I'll reference the mentioned guidelines when I do. ::)
