iAudio x5: Help ! "Right b./Nxxt track" is driving me mad...
« on: February 27, 2007, 07:14:10 AM »
I really love rockbox, I love the database, I love the flac-playback...but on thing is driving me mad:

When I want to skip to the next track(pressing the right buttom), it is like gambling:

- sometimes I get the next track
- often I received a menu starting with "REcent bookmarks"
- sometime I am back in the root menu of the data base starting with "artist"

so, one of the very basic functions which you really need does not work, making it difficult to navigate blindly.

Any ideas how to make this reliable are highly appreciated. I serached but have not found many others who seem to have the same issue.

I'm assuming that with right button you are refering to "right press" of the joystick.
I've seen a couple of people having issues with pressing the joystick correct or the software interpreting the press correctly.
But i've never seen or experienced anyone ending up in recent bookmarks, having a hard time recreating that aswell.

"recent bookmarks" resides in the main menu wich you press "REC" to get into.
You'll end up in the root of the database if you press the joystick down instead of pushing it to the side.

Perhaps you are pressing buttons accidentally when you are holding your x5? I tend to "rest" my  finger on the side where rec and play are situated when i operate my x5 single-handedly (Left hand. But i'm right-handed - strange)

Check the following links:

http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=8274.0

and

http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=7567.0

The latter has a patch which has completely cured my X5 of this really annoying problem. If you want a precompiled build which includes this then please check maxwen's build

Assuming your x5 joystick is fully functional in the physical sense...it is a bit bouncy at that anyway.

general settings -> system -> disk -> directory cache -> yes
setting this to yes fixed a lot of joy stick and wps tag problems
like current time in song when playing music stayed at 0:00
current song, displays next song info (name, album, artist...)
fixed joystick problems in menu.
This still happened in recent builds(not modded builds, AKA Rockbox builds) two days ago.
Mostly happen when switching repeat mode 1 to repeat mode all

Is the problem the same if the battery is fully charged?

I rephrase: does the joystick issue that the original poster reported about behave the same when the battery is fully charged?
