accidentally installed rockbox to my new ipod 80gb

GodEater:
We know - the work done on the iPL kernel was as a direct result of the findings of the rockbox team. We just don't have anyone with the time to spare to make the fixes in rockbox yet.

Llorean:
Well, the fixes also aren't identical for Rockbox. More needs to be changed, and there's a desire to improve the overall FAT handling, I believe, so it's more to be done. At least if my understanding of it is correct.

GodEater:
They're very far from identical, plus we're handicapped by having to make sure our fixes work across more platforms than iPL has too.

I wasn't trying to belittle your efforts with rockbox... I hope it didn't come across that way.  I just posted that so people like me who sold their 60 gig and bought the 80 gig the very first day it came out, not realizing they wouldn't be able to load rockbox or linux, and were unable to do so once getting it, would be able to hack something about the ipod.  (talk about a run on sentence)

I appreciate the time and effort it takes to make a program like this work.  I'm just happy that I got linux back on and they have mikmodule so I can play my mod files.  Which is one of the things I used rockbox for with the mod file patch.

So for now I'm happy.  I just really love the rockbox interface and how it's easier to build and modify.  Plus getting Doom and Pacman to work on Rockbox is far easier than linux.

You guys are great.  I'm just glad to see that you know exactly what needs to be done.   If I knew anything about coding I'd jump right in and help.  Unfortunately I'm a hardware geek and not a great programmer.
