error reading ipod

I have a 30 GB ipod video, but when i try to install rockbox it fails on the first step.  It says.....
     "ipod is not found, please connect it to the computer, now aborting."
My ipod is clearly connected, but i have tried other programs for the ipod, like gopod, which also didnt read my ipod.  Help???

Is it FAT32 formatted or HFS+ formatted?

Aye, that means it is formatted FAT32, good.
Are you logged in as Administrator, or logged into an account with admin privileges?
Are you running Windows 2000 or XP?

What gives you that message?  

It's not an ipodpatcher (the official installation tool for Rockbox) error message.

i get this when i try to install it using Rockbox Installer X Version 1.0 for Windows ipods......and i can send files directly to the ipod
