Iriver H340: Only starts with battery disconnected/HDD noise in headphones
(1/1)
Groove:
Hello,
short version:
-Player only starts with battery disconnected; I guess the chips responsible for battery management are
broken.
-HDD noise in headphone jack signal; I think the UDA 1380TT chip is ok since the line out jack works
without any problems.
...and here's the whole story:
My H340 always worked without any problems until one day
I could suddenly hear the harddisk noise in my headphones.
The line out still functioned without any problems.
However I can't live without the headphone jack since I use
it with an LCD remote.
First, I thought it had to be some kind of grounding problem of the headphone jack
and I opened the player.
Disassembling it, I did something really stupid: The battery plug was quite difficult to remove, so I tried to remove it with a screwdriver and created a short circuit by accident :-\
It was only for a second but the player is partially dead now.
It only starts without the battery plugged in saying "charging".
When I press play then, it starts the iriver firmware and I can use the player normally besides the HDD noise in the headphone jack.
Thank you in advance!

Ok, I solved the battery problem :)
The player wasn't really dead, but the display did't turn on after reconnecting the battery.
Luckily, I found a thread with the same problem.
It's a normal rockbox behaviour, I only had to reset the player after reconnecting the battery and it was working, again.
However, there's still the noise problem.
I figured out that the UDA1380TT chip must be defect.
I looked at the datasheet and saw that it houses in fact two amps, one for headphone out and one for lineout.
Does anyone know where to get these chips?
I already searched various shops without success.
If somebody wants to sell me a chip, I would be very happy :)
thanks
