I messed up my new ipod!! Please Help!

Ok, just bought this ipod 30G and downloaded around 500-600 dollars worth of songs from friends. Then now i have this rockbox cause i thouhgt it would be cool. so i tryed to follow the instructions tho towards the end it was VERY confusing. so i took the files from the folder and placed it in .rockbox in my ipod file. I disconnected and this is what came up!

IVE TRYED EVERYTHING. when i move the hold button it reads (Hold switch on!) but i cant get it off. when i connect my ipod it wont pull up my f:// file so i can delete it. I read all the rules. Its just frozen solid. Im not going to let it die cause it probably wont start up again. and IM NOT going to erase all my songs. I really need help on this one.

What happens when you reboot it and then try to go into disk mode?

just fixed it. finnaly got it back to the home screen and off the black screen. I took it off my ipod cause i cant figure out how to do it properly. I was having problems with the booting step. Im not really good with this stuff. any help would be great!

k. im just trying to figure this out. is there anyway of telling me what to do in more of a less complicated way. i downloaded the 1st link and tryed the 2nd on 2.2.2. do i need the 3rd one? i have a dell windows computer

You don't need link 1 and 2 from section 2.2.2 of the manual.
Download the current build.
Download the fonts.
Extract both .zip files to the root (the unnamed bottom directory) of your iPod.
Reinstall the bootloader (assuming you actually went through with it and removed the bootloader).
That's all you need to do.

In the future, be specific about what specific instructions you are having trouble with.

Regarding your youtube post - I don't know - I can't view youtube on any of my computers.

how do i do the ipodcatcher? I really dont get 2.2.3. on the cmd commands and all that jazz.i also dont get the unamed.... is that the D- file?  reply asap!

By typing in exactly what the manual says to.

What specifically do you not get?  I think that as long as you follow the directions, it doesn't matter if you understand what process is doing, though understanding isn't a bad idea.

ok so i have it now! its on there. i figured out how to go from the original screen to rockbox back and forth. so how to i do custom screens and play my music from my original setup? its on the white computer looking screen that has the d- and all that other stuff
