Backround change?

is there anyway to change the backround? like the color? or font color? and one of you will probably come in here and be like BAM! with a part of the manual that i missed...

oh by the way if its nessascary at all to say that i'm using a 5G 30gig V-pod...idk if its required to know but better post now rather than have one of you YELL at me later... *sighs* ... just kidding i appreciate all the help

2) Yes, you can modify the backgrounds and text with things called WPSs that are located  at http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIpod5g

hey yea but where do i put it? i tried saving it into the wps folder...didn't work

Ok it should have like 3-4 folders in it (wps, themes, backdrops, and possibly fonts). You copy all of that to your .rockbox directory and you should be all set.
If it did not come with fonts, download http://download.rockbox.org/daily/fonts/rockbox-fonts.zip and put the fonts folder in your .rockbox folder. THen when you boot up go to browse themes and select your theme.

You can also manually set the background color or change background images from the LCD Settings menu:

Main Menu >> General Settings >> Display Options >> LCD Settings

I wasn't aware that you could change the background IMAGE from the settings menu. I haven't unplugged my iPod to check it, but the setting doesn't appear in EvilG's Feb 5 sim.

The background image is called a "Backdrop" not a "Background", they have different names so that they can be clearly differentiated.

The Backdrop can be changed by browsing to a .bmp of the appropriate dimensions and choosing to set it as a backdrop in the file context menu.

Thanks Llorean.  Yeah, you can clear the backdrop from that menu, but not set a new one.  The method Llorean described works for that, though.
