Recording Question

(1/1)

franknbeans:
Hi all,

I was asked about recording to my ipod and got pointed to your site.

I'll explain what I am trying to do.

I am a DJ and wanted to record my mixing live show. I want to come out of my mixer Via RCA and into the iPod via 3.5mm to RCA cord.

Is this even possible or am i barking up the wrong tree????

Thanks for the help 8-)

pomme:
You can use an external recording device, such as the Belkin TuneTalk.

It has a line-in 1/8" jack that you can record with.

But this forum is about using the rockbox firmware, which replaces the ipod firmware. The recording functions are still being tweaked by the developers and are not entirely working at this time.

But from what it sounds like, you are using the original, unmodified apple firmware. So just search around for some reviews on products that can dock onto the ipod and record.. there are a few different ones.

Is this what you are talking about?

I read up on it and the input is for a MIC. Can I run a 3.5mm to RCA jack and record?

I am worried it would not let me record digitally out of my mixer, but only with a mic.

thanks again for the help and advice

You can record with Belkin and a external mic.

But...

You'll need a preamp and a battery box (one for the mics and one for ipod).

I test Belkin. With mic, without mic, with preamp, without preamp,....

Works great.

Peace
